On the right of it is a man and a woman. The man is white and has brown hair. He is wearing a gray shirt with jeans on and a belt. The woman is also white and has long brown hair with bangs. She has on a white tank top and jeans. His hand is touching her face and her hand is tugging on his belt. They look as if they are about to kiss. He has her leaned up against a gray, brick wall. To the left of them is a picture of the fragrance bottles. The whole advertisement is muted besides a splash of blue by the text at the bottom and a splash of yellow by the bottles.

ReplyDeleteI think you could mention more about the texture and feeling of the ad. There seems to be a lot of layers of colors and undefined "swoops". Also mention more about the setting, the man and woman are up against a grey, brick wall, but where would we find a grey brick wall? Above ground? I think that its suggesting that this in a subway. The text on the bottles of fragrance are positioned in a way that they need each other to be able to complete the statement. Maybe mention the the man and woman need each other to be able to complete a sexual encounter like this? Also mention that her underwear is slightly poking out and her belly is revealing slim physique. You could talk about how Calvin Klein ads have always used sexuality to sell there products and that they usually play on the idea that there is one fragrance for a man and a woman but which one should I use? The ad does not state which fragrance is for a man and a woman. That you get to choose your sexuality and it doesn't have to be a defined box that you place yourself in.
Breaking Dawn movie poster:
You should mention the fact that the movie title is in red and that the statement at the top is white. Also where are there feet? The woman has been chopped off from the ankles down!! I know that you mentioned smoke and dark colors at the bottom but this ad is showing that its not constrained to the laws of the natural world. Is there a relationship with one another not constrained to the laws of humans? This ad puts the woman in the middle suggesting that she needs to make a choice between the two men. The man that has his arm on hers seems to be holding her back while the other man is scowling and looking towards them as a couple. You could talk about woman being stuck between choosing safe relationships and risky ones.
The Calvin Klein ad seems like more explicitly goes along with the course theme while Breaking Dawn might be more of a stretch.

ReplyDeleteFor this one you could mention the color of the words for the title and at the top of the poster. You should also mention the paleness of the skin of the woman and the man holding her as well as how it contrasts with the tan skin tone of the other man facing away from them. The woman has a silver ring on the hand that is holding her pregnant stomach. You should also mention the colors of the bright white sun that contrasts with the blood red sky in the background as well.
Calvin Klein
This is well done summary. I would just mention that the woman's midriff is exposed and it looks as if she's unfastening the man's belt (I'm not completely sure about that). I'm not sure if the image appears larger on your computer but it's really tiny on mine and so it makes it difficult to tell what is in the background. It looks like there is a road/pathway or something that leads up to the two fragrance bottles which draws your attention to the bottles along with that yellow that contrasts greatly with everything else in the image. There's also a faded circle behind the bottles.
I feel like the Calvin Klein ad would be the perfect option to write about in an analysis. It's almost as if the fragrances and the two people are two completely separate pictures. It draws your attention right to the product while also displaying sexuality in the background.
Break Dawn Poster
ReplyDeletefor this picture, I think you should analysis a little about the meaning of the break dawn relating to the atmosphere of the whole poster. Looking carefully at their faces, each of them are looking towards different directions and shows different emotion. You should describes about this and its relation with the break dawn. From the details shown from three characters, you could analysis a lot of information about what relationship they may have, what may be gong on and so on. And in the whole poster, the main color is red, the dawn, the woman's clothes, and the words at the bottom. The color may show some important information about the story of break dawn, or it represents blood, killing, torture or something else.

I think this summary is better than the other one. I think the woman is unstrapping the man's belt. They action must have big relationship with the fragrance on the leaf hand side. Maybe they feel each other sexy just after they use the IN2U perfume and it vividly shows to consumers what kind of perfume it would be. And also these two people's clothes, which are only casual, white tees and blue jeans, shows that this perfume is not for high class occasion but for every day, and you can enjoy then in your daily life. Also the picture of the two people is bigger than that of the fragrance, the ad still can easily let consumers pay attention on the two bottles of perfume.
