Kyle Bruzetti, Blog Group #6, Primary Source Summary

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TaXKGj2DwFo #2 This is Trojan condom commercial that depicts a man on his wedding day going to meet his bride and drop off a package. Before he can knock on the door he is greeted by an attractive dark haired woman in a red dress who we later learn is his sister-in-law. She invites him inside and closes the door and tells him he can put the package down. After he does so, she begins to rub her hands up and down his back in a provacative manner and tells him she has had a huge crush him. She moves closer to his ear and talks seductively telling him that before he gets married that she wants to have him all to herself. She walks away from him unzipping her dress revealing her underwear and physique as he looks at her with enthusiasm. The woman turns and tells him that she'll be upstairs. The man pauses for a brief second and moves outside to his car and rifles around in the glove compartment to find a small group of people engaged in applause. The head of the group is a man named Senator Brewster who is soon to be his father-in-law. The Senator states that, "he had to know what kind of man he was before he let him marry his daughter," and that he passed the test. This then reveals that his sister-in-law was a set up to detrmine if the man would sleep with her. The video pauses on the man holding a look of shock and relief then notes to always have Trojan Condoms in your car and showed a package of Trojan Condoms in the glove compartment . A woman informs him that he left his car door open and motioned towards going to close it. The man hastily stops the woman and says not worry about it and that he will close the door.

  1. Commercial #2 Before we begin, I just wanted give sincere thanks to Trojan for the advice. As you can see this man listened to your advice. He applied the knowledge and was an overall success. If it hadn't been for Trojan, these outstanding, successful, respectable, reputable, good, and contributing members of society might actually know this man for the selfish, egotistical, womanizing filanderer that has graced our homes with his presence. With the acting as uncomfortable as a John holmes movie, we begin our story. The Groom stops by his would be brides home. Oh hey, how convenient, her exceedinly attractive sister, in a red dress answers the door. Red symbolizes fire and blood and is directly associated with energy, war, danger, strength, power, determination, passion, desire, and love. Who knew? Well the bride is not home but suuurrrre I can go in and drop off this package. Imagine that, she wants to have him all to himself before he gets married. Oh I'll bet. Why not? Nobody has to know. Oh yeah, you go upstairs. I'll just run out to the car real fast and grab th.......??!!! OH damn! BUSTED!! The Senator really used a good tactic on that one. Stick to the Senate. Set ups only work against other politicians. The senator might be proficiently skilled in subversion and political penetration. He might be an expert of infiltrating the uterus that nurtures and supports the values of good society. But he could have never been prepared for his soon to be son in law to have "Trojans in his car." If he hadn't had Trojans in his car this man might have been denied a chance at good life with a good woman. All by a family who had him set up to take a fall from the start. It's alright he passed, you can take the dress off now. Wow! In the end Trojans stop more than STD's and unwanted pregnancy. They preserve our way of life. Trojans, nothing gets by them.

  2. This one seems a little more difficult to analyze because it's really straightforward. It definitely does relate to the class topic. Some questions that you might wanna ask while analyzing this advertisement include How do you think that the red dress affects this ad? Why do you think that this ad attracts consumers?

  3. The subject of this advertisement goes along with the our topic in class and also is comical in the end. Most of us, including the group in the end, were deceived at first thinking that the guy was going to leave. The fact that this was a test for the guy who was about to get married shows that it is thought that many men will cheat on their wives. At the end, what does it say about our society, that at first it seemed like he wasn't going to sleep with the women, but in reality he intended to? What is the significance of it being a senator who will be the father in law?
